Get on the Bus // Marilyn Cadenbach

by Thelma Louise on January 13, 2015

One of the latest trends hitting LA is not the newest club or boutique – it’s the Do Good Bus.  Think party bus minus the alcohol plus the community service.

Early on Saturday morning about 20 people, including our Social Media Director, Marium Mohiuddin, jumped onto a Blue Bird and headed to the LA Regional Food Bank to volunteer four hours of their time to help a charity. Socializing, networking and giving back to the community perfectly sums up the day.

Want to get on the bus, too? Here are five things Marium feels that everyone should know about the Do Good Bus!

  1. The volunteer opportunity is a surprise. You don’t know where you are heading until the bus takes off. Past activities have ranged from working with kids to building new homes to creating guerrilla gardens.
  2. Every month, there is one community ride where anyone can get on the bus; however, your company/organization can book the entire bus for your own event. Just think how much fun your company could have!
  3. Rebecca Pontius and her business partner, Stephen Snedden, launched the initiative after constantly running into one another while volunteering around LA.
  4. In December 2014, the Do Good Bus received its 501(c)3 nonprofit status. In addition to rides, it’s open for donation.
  5. In 2011, the indie band Foster the People incorporated the bus into their “Do Good” 25 U.S. city tour, encouraging concertgoers to volunteer and give back. 1 bus | 25 causes | 750 volunteers | 11,000 miles | 1 community
